Certificate IV in Ageing Support

The Certificate IV in Ageing Support qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based
environment. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.

Course Duration / Work Placement

Course duration: 52 weeks

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must complete 120 hours of work placement (1 day per week) to perform the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Course Information

Entry Requirements

Students must be 18 years of age or over, completed Year 10 or equivalent and are required to provide evidence demonstrating English Language competence by any of the following:

  • Completing our Language Literacy &
    Numeracy test;
  • Providing evidence of English Language Skills test (IELTS 5 or above);
  • Satisfactorily complete a pre training interview to determine academic suitability
    for the course.
Delivery Mode

Face-to-face classroom workshop. Minimum 20 hours per week

Licensing / Regulatory Requirements

No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification. All students will be required to have a working with vulnerable people and police check before commencing placement

Work Placement

Students who undertake work placement as a requirement for this course must indicate their preference of the following St Basil’s Homes’ locations: Lakemba, Miranda, Randwick, Annandale, Kogarah, Kensington
